David Green
Director | Geology
David Green has worked as a geologist in the Australian coal industry for 39 years of which 25 have been as a consultant. From 2015 to 2018 he was the Coal Geoscience Manager for the Geological Survey of Queensland.
David has a broad knowledge of and is able to provide strategic advice on Queensland coal resources and industry. He has experience with various aspects of exploration and mining in all major coal basins in Queensland and has conducted due diligences in Indonesia, Mongolia and Canada. He has provided quality geological consulting services to numerous clients ranging from major companies to junior explorers in the coal industry. His services include exploration management, resource assessment, deposit evaluation, data reviews and management, country reviews, IGRs, geophysical log interpretation, feasibility studies, technical reports, mine geology assessment, tenure management, and statutory reporting.
David’s focus is on high quality data preparation and review of outputs to ensure reliable geological models and reports. He has considerable experience in geological data collection including the setting of standards for reliable coal resource estimation and project studies.
David has been involved in a number of R&D projects including being the joint author of CoalLog: The Borehole Data Standard for the Australian Coal Industry (ACARP Projects C21003 and C22017), and of ACARP Project C9003 on the use of Downhole Acoustic Logs.
From 2008 to 2014 David was a guest lecturer in coal geology at QUT, and has provided supervision, training and mentoring in various roles.

David has been jointly awarded 3 ACARP project grants which included an evaluation of acoustic scanners (ACARP report C9003) and the development of CoalLog (www.ausimm.com/coal-log), a standard for logging coal borehole data.
